Peru: Geothermal Development Plan Released; Hot Rock Holds Top Projects
A nationwide geothermal power development plan for Peru was recently completed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Working with INGEMMET, the geological survey of Peru, JICA prioritized 61 geothermal fields of which 34 discharged temperatures greater than 60°F. Fields were assessed for geothermal resource potential, ease of access, and location outside protected areas. Hot Rock Limited (HRL) said in a press release it holds three of the top four projects for geothermal potential as listed in the JICA report: Achumani, with 150 MW potential; Quellaapacheta, with 100 MW; and Ocururane, with 90 MW.
