Additional geothermal MATOC announced

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces a sixth contract for use of geothermal technology as part of the Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) series for renewable and alternative energy production work orders at Department of Defense (DOD) installations.

US Army Corps Announces Additional Geothermal MATOC Award
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Engineer Support Center, based in Huntsville, Ala., this week announced a new contract for use of geothermal technology as part of the Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) series for renewable and alternative energy production work orders at Department of Defense (DOD) installations.

New Generation Power Inc. based in Chicago, Ill. was awarded “potential vendor indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, firm-fixed-price, non-option, non-multi-year contract with a cumulative maximum value of $7,000,000,000,” according to Defense.gov. This contract was a competitive acquisition via the web with 16 bids received, notes DoD.

New Generation Power Inc. is added to a pool of five other qualified geothermal contractors, which are: Constellation NewEnergy, Inc., Baltimore, Md.; ECC Renewables, LLC, Burlingame, Calif.; Enel Green Power North America, Inc., Andover, Mass.; LTC Federal, LLC, Detroit, Mich.; and Siemens Government Technologies, Inc., Arlington, Va. “Today we are expanding the pool of potential contractors for geothermal projects to include a small business,” said Col. Robert Ruch, commander, U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville in a press release (Armyeitf.com (PDF)). “Including more potential contractors and small business allows us to further expand competition among qualified bidders and encourages the best value for renewable energy projects.”

All awarded technologies — thus far geothermal, wind, and solar, and with biomass announcements expected soon — will share a total estimated value of $7,000,000,000. Performance location and funding will be determined with each order.
