BLM releases drafts for Western state subregional sage-grouse plans

This week in opportunities, the Bureau of Land Management has released draft land-use plan amendments and draft EIS documents on the sage grouse for Utah, Nevada, California, Idaho, and Montana. Check it out during the public review and comment period, which ends January 29. Each of the subregions will be hosting public open house meetings about the drafts.


BLM Releases Sage-Grouse Draft Land Use Plan Amendment/Draft EIS for Utah, Nevada, California, Idaho, Montana (comments due Jan. 29)
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has released draft Environmental Impact Statements for the Utah Greater subregion, the Nevada and Northeastern California subregion, and the the Idaho-Southwestern Montana subregion. The drafts now have a 90-day public review and comment period that ends on Jan. 29, 2014. For more information on the National Greater Sage-Grouse Planning Strategy and the progress in other subregions visit Blm.gov/sagegrouse.

The Utah Greater document may be viewed at: Blm.gov. Written comments may be submitted by email at blm_UT_comments@blm.gov or by mail at BLM Utah, Attn: Quincy Bahr, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, UT 84101. Please reference “BLM/FS Utah Greater Sage-Grouse EIS” in any submission. Eight public open houses will be held across Utah to present information and answer questions on the draft document. Specific meeting venues will be posted on the BLM site.

The Nevada and Northeastern California document is now available at: Blm.gov/nv. The preferred method to submit comments is electronically, on the Web at On.doi.gov or by email to blm_nv_ca_sagegrouse_eis_comments@blm.gov. Comments on paper can be submitted to BLM-Greater Sage-Grouse EIS, Attn: Joe Tague,1340 Financial Blvd., Reno, NV 89502. A series of seven open houses will be held to present information and answer questions on the Draft LUPA/DEIS. For more information on meeting venues, visit the BLM link.

The Idaho-Southwestern Montana document is now available at: Blm.gov/id. The preferred method to submit comments is electronically, by email to blm_id_swmt_sagegrouse_eis@blm.gov or on the Web at Blm.gov/id. Comments on paper can be submitted to BLM-Greater Sage-Grouse EIS,1387 S. Vinnell Way, Boise, ID 83709.
