EOI for Second Round, Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (due Dec. 13)
Via GRMF–Following the successful launch of the Second Application Round for the Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (GRMF) on 21 October, 2013 at the AUC Headquarters Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and based on the great interest from the following countries in the East African Rift System Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, potential applicants for the GRMF are now requesting for an extension in the closing date for submitting the Expression of Interest (EoI) for second application round from 22 November 2013 to 13 December 2013. GRMF provides financial support in form of a grant to winning applicants for surface studies and exploration drilling and testing programmes as follows:

  • 20% of approved allowable costs for infrastructure required for eligible surface studies or eligible drilling programmes (e.g. access, water, power).
  • 80% of approved allowable costs of Surface studies.
  • 40% of approved allowed costs for the exploration drilling and testing programme (ex­cluding infrastructure costs).
  • 30% of the developer’s share of the approved allowance and expended costs for the drilling and testing programme in case of continuation of the project.

In this regard, its officially confirm the extension of the closing date in submitting the EoI for the second application round of the GRMF to be Friday, 13 December, 2013 at 1700H Addis Ababa time. Please pass this information to geothermal developers working in your country.

Oregon Region Sage-Grouse Planning Strategy Draft RMPA/DEIS Open to Comments (due Feb. 20)
Via BLM–The Draft Resource Management Plan Amendment (RMPA)/Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Oregon subregion is now available at http://on.doi.gov/H9NDe1. The publication of the Draft RMPA/DEIS begins a 90-day public comment period that will conclude on February 20, 2014. The preferred method to submit comments is by email to blm_or_so_gsg_planning_comments@blm.gov. Comments on paper can be submitted to BLM – Greater Sage-Grouse DEIS, 1220 SW 3rd Ave, Portland, OR 97204. A series of five open houses will be held to present information and answer questions on the Draft RMPA/DEIS.
