Geothermal energy updates in the Americas.

*Canada: British Columbia Overlooks Geo Potential

Representatives of the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association have said that British Columbia overlooks its geothermal resources even though it has the potential to become a geothermal “powerhouse.”

The new Cayman Technology Center, Cayman Islands, will use geothermal and solar efficiency technologies and employ 60% local workers. It is expected to be complete in one year.

Representatives of Nevis Renewable Energy International, the company that won the bid to develop the geothermal facility on the island of Nevis, have said that the power plant will be operated by local Nevisians. Training opportunities are expected after construction on the plant is complete.
