Geothermal energy in Asia and the Pacific: online tools, resource potential, and technologies that withstand extreme conditions.

Queensland, Australia will provide mining and resources mapping data to potential investors and developers through a online tool called Mines Globe. It is a project of the Land and Spatial Information Unit of the Department of Natural Resources and Mines.

Mindanao, the second largest island of The Philippines, has commercial geothermal exploration in Sulu Sea and additional identified potential sites at Kidapawan, North Cotabato, and Davao del Sur. A Board of Investments rep was quoted in press.

Looking at the geothermal units that were damaged by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in the Philippines recently, an article on RenewableEnergyWorld.com looks at different geothermal technologies and their ability to withstand extreme climate change effects like the typhoon.
