Geo energy news briefs from Hungary and Spain

Hungary and Spain are progressing in geothermal energy applications.

*Hungary: Devecser Using Geothermal Heating
*Spain: Company Eyes Geothermal Greenhouses at Almeria

Mayor of Devecser, Hungary, Toldi Tamas is taking steps to make his town a green energy hub after a 2010 toxic mud disaster. This includes using geothermal energy to heat a bus terminal.

The company Cardial Recursos Alternativos (Cardial Alternative Resources) is looking at five potential geothermal sites in Spain, with a Campo de Nijar near Almeria identified as the most advanced site. The company is looking at both electricity production and use for greenhouses to bring down horticulture costs. The first plant would start at 5 MW and could be expanded to 8 MW.
