*Canada: Bishop’s University Sees Geothermal Savings
*Latin America: Geothermal Risk Mitigation Fund Underway for 5 Countries
Bishop’s University said this week that its geothermal heating system is already bringing benefits of cost savings and greenhouse gas reductions. Principal and vice-chancellor Michael Goldbloom told press the campus saved $500,000 in heating costs, reduced harmful emissions by 66%, and saved millions of liters of water, all in the first year.
A consortium has been contracted to prepare a risk mitigation fund for geothermal development in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The fund has been initiated by the Central American Development Bank and the German development bank KfW.
